DAVID FERRON’S MASK MISSION FOR NEMOURS

I NEED YOUR HELP TO SUPPORT NEMOURS

Like many of you, I have been searching for the best way that my shop, David Ferron Unionville Saddle, can help the most during this pandemic.  After some preparation, I am proud to become a partner and friend of Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.  I have a unique and meaningful opportunity to support them during this time, but I need your help. You can help me support our healthcare heroes and help give every child and their family a re-usable face mask as they are discharged from Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.

Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children has formed a COVID-19 Donation Team working to secure supplies to help protect patients, families, and team members. I recently got a call from Meghan, a donation team member, to see if I had fabric to donate to the hospital. They have assembled sewers to make masks for patients and families.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

While I don’t have much fabric to donate, I do have the connections to order yardage of antibacterial fabric for Nemours.  Here is where I need your help. Over the next two weeks, I will be raising money to order a bulk shipment of approximately 150 yards of antibacterial mask material for the sewing team at Nemours to make 3000 face masks.

GoFundMe GOAL

My goal is to raise $1500 to order 150 yards of antibacterial face mask material through a GoFundMe fundraising campaign.  All purchased fabric will be donated to the Nemours COVID-19 Donation Team to make approximately 3000 antibacterial face masks.  In addition to helping our healthcare heroes, these facemasks will be distributed to patients and their families to wear as they return home from the hospital.  While these are not medical grade surgical masks they will provide protection and reduce transmission of COVID-19.  When the goal is reached I will restart the campaign to order another batch of fabric.

ABOUT NEMOURS

Nemours is an internationally recognized children's health system that owns and operates the two free-standing children’s hospitals: the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del., and Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando, Fla., along with outpatient facilities in five states, delivering pediatric primary, specialty, and urgent care. Nemours also powers the world’s most-visited website for information on the health of children and teens, KidsHealth.org, and offers on-demand, online video patient visits through Nemours CareConnect. Nemours ReadingBrightstart.org is a program dedicated to preventing reading failure in young children, grounded in Nemours’ understanding that child health and learning are inextricably linked, and that reading level is a strong predictor of adult health. Established as The Nemours Foundation through the legacy and philanthropy of Alfred I. duPont, Nemours provides pediatric clinical care, research, education, advocacy, and prevention programs to families in the communities it serves.
